NC州で運転免許証を取るときに必要な書類
NC州のDMVにいって必要な書類がなかったら出直し
予約取り直し、といったレビューやブログをみましたので、
何が必要かを確認。
ただDMVのサイトをみると、
アメリカ生まれのアメリカ人向けの必要書類がぱっと見出てくるので、
外国人はどうしたらいいか・・・しかもF2でSSNもでないのよ・・・
と思い、調べてみるとUNCのサイトでこんな記事が。
International students and scholars should take the following documents to the DMV when applying for the driver’s license:
Passport
Visa stamp
Most recent Form I-94 (download from the CBP website)
Proof of residency in North Carolina
Proof of liability insurance
Driver license fee ($5.50 per year)
Note: A social security number is not required to apply for a driver license or state identification card.
こちら大学の公式なので、流石に間違ってないと思うんですよね。
心配な私はDuke大学ではどう書いてあるか調べましたが、同じく

Once a month, IHouse offers a trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Please bring the following items with you:
Passport
Visa Document (I-20 or DS-2019)
I-94 card
Social Security Card (only if you have one)
$5.00 cash, check or credit/debit card accepted
Proof of Residence-a letter from your bank or utility company with your name and Durham/Chapel Hill street address on it, or your apartment lease.
”Make sure you bring your passport and your I-20. Bring your SSN card if you have one, if not, it doesn’t matter.”
ってありましたよ。
このI-94というのが、入国後すぐには反映されないので、だいたい2週間後を目安に、というふうにネットでは書かれています。
Driver's license fee $5.5って安いですね。
（心配性MAXな私は、cashでもcredit cardでもデビットカードでも支払いが可能なことを確認しました。）
州によって違うみたいですが J1VISAの人は運転免許5年間有効でJ2は1年おきに更新が必要、といったこともあるみたいです。
州によってばらばらすぎるの、外国人にとってわかりづらいし迷惑なんですけど！？！？
